API Channel Strip
You can always find the sweet spot. Both with dynamics and EQ. The big plus is doing all this on the way in. I have the 1073, 610 to back up the API as my Apollo pres. If you can't get a good sound with these....give up.

LA2A works
I have two hardware La2a's, I can't tell the difference between the software and hardware; they both sound fantastic at all times on the appropriate instrument/voice. My only complaint....I love to feel the real thing, virtual knobs are not very exciting, I suspect that's just an old man thing!!!! The same review applies to the 1176 software I purchased at the same time.

One of the Greats
The LA-2A collection is a great addition to my arsenal. What a fabulous tool for vocals. Not to mention, the LA-2A is one of my go-to's when I'm looking to add a little character and snap to a rock snare drum. I cannot say anything too terrible about the 1176 collection, as it's one of my favorite collections as well, but the LA-2A set gives it a run for its money... And for the money, this is a killer plugin series and a must have!

I had used and loved fairchild plugins or a while. The thing is that you will never fully appreciate the magical sound that they impart on what ever you use them on unless you get a chance to use a real one. When I moved to Nashville TN I worked in numerous studios. I got to use the real deal at BlackBird And Ocean Way. These things are out of this world. Well let me tell you that this Plugin is Spot On. The Depth and the sweetness of this thing are amazing. You can get massive amounts of gain reduction on these things and still have stuff sound great. Its a very easy compressor to use as it is very hard to make it sound bad. I love how they captured the nuances in how it responds differently at different input stages. LOVE

Just Like The Real Thing!!!
I have been using the API Legacy Plus and Legacy consoles for many years now and I have to say that I was BLOWN away by the authenticity of this plugin. I absolutely love it . The only thing that makes it less authentic is that you don't have desk full of them. But I am totally over that because this thing is amazing. The hardest part of the replication of this actual piece of gear is that the 20k shelf on the top never sounds right. But this one is spot on! LOVE

A one stop mix shop
This has it all. It really must be the greatest value in Unison plugins with pre-amp modeling, as well as analog modeling of filters, expander/gate, compressor/limiter, and EQ; plus component order positions and side chain options for filters and eq.
And perhaps the most important feature for a DSP based system: DSP load is individual per component. so the plugin components use DSP only when turned on.
Really great. It's all over my recordings and my mixes.

after years using the "legacy" version I finally bough this upgraded one which adds a real analogue saturation sound
also I really love the headroom and mix controls
only problem? I'll have to buy other DSP's to use it more! (it's 3 times the legacy one DSP-wise)
