Fast And Effective
This plugin is what I've always wanted in a tape emulation. I have the Ampex that I use primarily for the wow and flutter effects. For the quick "tape" sound, Oxide is the best I've used. I demo'd the Studer, and it is very much in that same ballpark-except that since there are so few options, Oxide takes less than 10 seconds to dial in the perfect setting and then I'm moving on. It took a couple minutes at least with the Studer because of the options. This is my utility, cumulative-effect plugin that makes stuff sound better. Try it out. Buy it up.

Sounds great, but GUI needs modernization.
This plugin sounds incredible. But it also suffers from the same problem that almost all of their vintage plugs do: UA refuses to move into modern times with the GUI. You can't see the values of anything you're adjusting, and in recreating the exact layout of the original hardware, it's not as easy to see and navigate as it should be. For people like me who do extremely rapid work with super tight turnarounds with very precise adjustments (post production), it's a real drag. They should also go the Slate route and offer more EQ points (or continuously adjustable), etc. UA makes great sounding plugins but they are stuck in old times GUI-wise -- if they moved their GUIs to the 21st century, I would buy more. I stopped after this one.

Good for all instruments and vocals!
I've been using these plugins since I bought them and have not been disappointed yet! Have used them for all rhythm section instruments and lead male and female vocals - both during recording and mixing with good results all around. Highly recommended!

Oxide Tape
It's excellent. Try it. Instant glue on drum groups or mix buses, adds character to individual tracks etc... A different flavour to the ATR. marvellous.

Very nice plugin!
Tighter bottom end end much smoother highs than any other pultec emulation I know. Big recommendation!

Better than I thought it would be...
I purchased an Apollo 16, and Oxide came with it as a promo. Honestly, Oxide has sounded so good when applied to selected tracks, that I have started adding it to ALL tracks on recent sessions. Although the Studer & Ampex are highly priced, am seriously contemplating them as well. I'm currently remastering a 90's traditional country CD "in the box", and I'm using all UAD plug-ins on the master track. The differences are subtle, but amazingly noticeable when you get the presets / settings right. Although I feel UAD's prices are a little high, this one may be worth the $$$. I use more and more UAD plug-ins on every session.

It's amazing!
UAD Lexicon 224 sounds very fat, rich and amazing, especially in alto female vocal. I compared it with halls from hardware Lexicon 300L and PCM70. UAD Lexicon 224 is my choice in most situations.

Can't record without it...
I've been using the LA-2A for about 14 years now, thanks to Universal Audio's UAD DSP cards. I simply cannot record without it! So, as much as I LOVE and DEPEND on the LA-2A plug-in, I don't know why it's taken me this long to buy the LA-2A collection... but I'm really glad I did. I really do believe this is a MUST HAVE collection for all LA-2A users. You really can't go wrong. I am thoroughly enjoying having the different "flavors" of LA-2A instead of just the Legacy version, although it's been working overtime for me all this time. Thanks to Universal Audio for making my dream of making great recordings very affordable.

Liking the sound of tape again
I learned how to record on tape and love the sound of the but is way to expensive and is a lot more work. With the Oxide I get that tape flavor for a low cost. It make my tracks come alive and very fast. Thought my mix was good but once I added the Oxide the song I was working on came to life.

Happy
The minute I put this on some sample cello tracks I knew I was in for a treat. Great sound, subtle if you want it to be too. Really warms things up. Really love it on VST strings.

Dat 1176 doe!
I have a very dynamic voice and one that usually lacks definition. I was looking for a compressor that would allow my voice to pop out and add some clarity, so I did a shootout between the LA2A mk2 (which I love) The Summit tla100 (slow attack setting), fair child and the tube-tech cl1b (all plugins). This was a blind shootout, all compressors level matched and GR matched (1176 on slowest attack). Out of all of these compressors, the 1176 rev e was not only the clearest and warmest sounding but it had the most transparent sounding dynamic control out of all the compressors. 5 out of 5 times I chose the 1176 in the blind shootout. Not only great on vocals but is a swiss army knife of compressors. I am very happy with my purchase!

UAD or Waves Teletronic LA2A
Statistic user has simple question: is it the same sound of that plugin Waves La2a vs UAD teletronic la2a....I made compersion after trying demo version of UAD.In my opinion UAD is more "3d sound" and has more shaped bottom of sound.Try and test !Very good plugin UAD!

Exceeded my expectations
I've tried almost every tape simulation out there. Many of them are nice and do a trick to the sound. However the Studer is in a league of its own. Throw it on every track. It doesn't add that "hiss" effect just for the fun of it. The effect is subtle, but enough to change an entire mix around with it on every track. Game changer.
