There is a Reason this thing is always a top seller
I got the 1073 back when the Apollo Twin first came out, since then Ive added the new Apollo 8 and an Octo and Quad for tonnes of processing power. We are ALL fortunate to have all this amazing tech available at a fraction of the price it was back in the day. I own most of the UAD plugins like many of you its kind-of an addiction, especially when Black Friday and Christmas roll around. I have all the channel strips for Unison and I was recording my bass guitar doing tracks through all the amazing Unison channel strips for A/B and they all have amazing qualities. BUT there is just something about the 1073 with an LA2A that just has a thang, it just sounds so musical the way a cool bass track on a vintage record sounds....Love IT!

Neve love
I am addicted to this pre amp on my unison channel. It ads a cohesiveness that is hard to explain but easy to hear. Really a fantastic addition. Way to go UAD!

One of the best neve pre-amp /eq!
The new 1073 is one of the most acurate emulations of a Neve console pre-amp and eq.
But even the earlier 1073 legacy version is a great tool to give softsynths and drums this extra analog punch and warmth.
I also use it many times during recording hardware synths. Also very great to create the typical in the mid frequency range boosted dance, house and hip-hop drums. Brings vocals in front of the mix.
Because the new Neve 1073 is very cpu hungry I use the newer 1073 plugin mostly for recording/tracking and the earlier cpu friendly legacy version during mixing.

My favorite Unison plug
This one leaves in my Unison slots on my Apollo 8. This EQ just make sense to me and my ears. Very sweet spots indeed, and finding them just takes a few adjustments to the knob. This is a plugin full of win.

all i need
8 channel on the Apollo 8p, it's my new setup for recording !! Sound really good, i can make an easy mix, with this quality sound, it's just amazing to have a big and warm sound like this, it's just to easy !

Use it all the time!
Slightly resource hungry and fiddle to adjust with the mouse but have it over 8 channels of drums and would not track without it!!!

Very good!
Dont get wrong...
It's not the real thing, it doesn't handle my Ribbon mic's for example the way the real thing could...
But for the sound and character? It's better than any other (similar) plugin out there.
Personally I believe that for vocals (unison) you need a good preamp and a good compressor. (Hardware, class A, metal box)
For what comes after this plugin is super!
For everything else... Drums, bass, guitars... It works amazingly! (Unison)

Awesome plugin
It is incredible for recording, very crisp and with a lot of character, preferable over every other preamp.

1073 for EVERYONE!
I worked on a desk full of 1073 in the 80's and 90's and for decades I've been missing that "thing" being able to drop a 1073 on the input of the console page and record it on the way in is just another amazing bonus UAD has given us in this "tools treasurebox' they've been creating.
I just need to figure out how to take the Apollo on the road and use it when I mix live shows!

Stunning!
Huge step up from the legacy model and so great as a Unison preamp on just about everything so far. I only wish I could run more instances on my Quad Apollo. Keep up the great work!

My ultimate stop for plugins' search: UAD
Hello everyone
I am a sound quality freak which comes to me before anything else. From pillar to post, i demoed almost every plugin on earth as i also had iLok required for some company's plugins. But when i bought my Apollo Twin Duo and demoed almost all UAD plugins, my quest ended.I bought Neve 1073 Preamp & EQ Plug-In Collection,Precision De-Esser Plug-In and now Ampex ATR-102 .
I have stopped using money for anything else but UAD plugins. The pristine sound quality i get with them is matchless. They give you the depth and harmonic clarity with smooth transience yet punchy. UAD is a dream and i have never been so impressed by anything.I will continue to amass this wealth until i have all i require.
Thank you very much UAD.

Quirky controls, but a helpful UAD manual helps
This is the first Neve thing I've worked with and I initially found the controls to be completely unintuitive with cryptic board legends. However, after reading the manual to wrap my head around the conventions, everything started to make sense. Once I had these squared away, it was remarkably easy to dial in the sweet spots for my mix. The manual mentions that "there are a total of ten different areas where the circuit can clip," and I'm keen to try to find each of them!

Holy cow!
The the 1073 is probably one of the most "legendary" pieces of gear and everybody is raving about its tonal qualities. Since I never had the opportunity to get my cold dead hands on the real one, I pretty much had most of the plugins of this badboy - Slate, Waves Scheps 73 and a couple of freeware knock-offs.
Again UAD showed the competition who's boss - this rendition of the 1073 is for me by far the best sounding plugin out there. Its my go to plug for kick and snare - with only those three knobs you instantly can turn dull cardboard into punchy drums. Not to mention fiddling with the preamp for some extra hat.
BUT
With over 67% DSP you are forced to use it sparingly unless you have a couple of octos...

Warm as Warm can be!
The Neve 1073 is a piece of work! I think every producer must have this in his/her arsenal!

Automatic "Make it sound good" button
Seriously, if you need warmth or cohesion on a track/group of tracks, driving the preamp section of this plugin while matching volume with the fader can add that analog saturation you're missing. It almost acts like a tape machine in that sense. The EQ is great for initial tone shaping. Depending on the track, you may need another band or two from another EQ to take care of the surgical moves, but again, where this plugin really shines is the preamp section. Put it on a drum bus and drive it up 15 dB on the line side (match the fader to -15dB)...good things happen

Neve 1073 is my new Go To preamp Plugin
I used to use a whole army of preamps. I used a 4-710D for guitar cabinets and drum tracks, Focusrite Isa 220 for bass guitars and vocals, and a host of ART, Roland and other preamps for various purposes. I have sold ALL of them over the past year. This plugin replaced several thousand dollars worth of gear. I now work on only my own projects so, no need to have racks full of gear to impress the punters. This leaves me with the Neve 1073 plug, the only preamp I need.
