Fairchild Tube Limiter
I've just got a one word comment; Awesome.
The mix and side chain knobs are extremely useful.

Awesome compressor
Sounds incredible. Adds depth and warmth. You can tell the time the guys at UA spent sampling this to get it just right. Must have!

Good sound
very good sound.
A little inconvenient because there is no noise reduction function.

Fairchild Tube Limiter Collection
Excellent plug-in emulation of the Fairchild Tube Limiters! We've used several at Blackbird Studios in out of the box mixes, but having one for in the box mixing makes it that much better! Love it!

Low/mid cohesion
Well, I gave some 670 to the master busses of all ten tracks of a post-death/metal project with just a touch of compression (1-1.5 dB) and received a very valuable low/low-mid cohesion in return. It's a very pleasing sounding, useful compressor, I think, also for drum busses.

a must to have !!!
I can not compare it with the original, but I can hear how it sounds in my setup, warm and precise. It does what it needs to do a compressor. has its own character and its sound to be, like down the line LA2, LA3 and 1176. least in my opinion!

Amazing tool!
It's really cool! Very good for each type of instrument. It give me control and presence that I need in my tracks! The most powerfull compressor for lead or back vocal)
Thanks for it! :)

Loving the warmth!
I just love how this warms up whatever you put through it - really added some oomph to a sax solo I was mixing.

Got To Get You Into My Life!
These are great sounding compressors! Even just the slightest bit of compression adds warmth and glue to a mix. They sound outstanding on drums! Hit them hard and they still sound extremely warm and musical! A must have!

The best one for sure!
Having played with a number of Fairchild emus I liked the Puigchild the most. That was until I finally made it to UAD. The Fairchild was the first one I had to buy given its enigma and others attempts I had favored of in its likeness. Whether this is holds a candle to the real deal is irrelevant to me. Until I find out I am completely content having this. It is becoming a go to and must have on my mixes which are benefitting from it.

Thats it!!!
I work with Cubase and normally with the compressors/limiters from Waves, wich are good too ... but the fairchild is better. It's like you come from the second league to the premier league or from a Ford to an Audi (sorry, I'm from Germany :-)
The 670 on the stereo bus makes a song fat, big, large - you have to hear it... it is indescribable - and if you own one it is an indescribable joy !!!

Fair play!
Expensive but worth the price. One familiar it has a great sound and omits the original fairchild character

Kicked my other Fairchild's to the curb
I really like the simplicity and sound of the Fairchild, and after demoing the UAD version I bought it to replace my Waves Puigchild and IK Fairchild haven't looked back.

Great Great!
It kills the Waves version in my opinion. I love it on Piano and bass. It's awesome on drums and vocals too. Great sounding, although I have never heard a real Fairchild on my own mix, but I think for this price the UAD can't be beat.

Awesome
The best compressors set I have ever come across - Soft and Full!

Great mix buss glue
Fantastic on my main mix bus! I've never used the hardware so can't compare to this but this is a fantastic plug in for me. I use this on almost every project. Side chain is always useful with kick drum heavy mixes as well. A++++
A. Gabrys
working great so far
very nice to have side chain filter and mix knobs on this version. More flexible and nice color - can't compare against the actual hardware as I don't own the actual hardware. lol.
Yes I paid a lot less than some other posters in this thread as it was first discounted because I bought the Fairchild legacy model 4 years ago, and also have a coupon (and it was on sale as well). Moral of this story? If you are worried about $50 then wait for the sale and a coupon.
reliability has been great with UAD system in general - this is a quad UAD-2 PCI card and as long as I have paid attention to the supported OSX then I have had no problems. On my older Mac Pro 1,1 I had to not bother with this new one. Now that I have upgraded all is good.

The Fez
I started putting the Fairchild on a couple of tracks such as electric guitar, bgs, keys and synths, I find myself placing it on more tracks as the sessions progress. I love the smoothness but sometimes wondered if it was really making that much of a sonic difference until I bypassed it. I really love the sonic glue and sheen.
