Warm that Mix up!
This plugin is a time machine that'll take you back to a far away place where music sounded warm and beautiful to the ear.
It's a must have for any digital environment.

Wow man! That's what my mixes were missing.
This damn thing applies butter on my prickly and thorny mix. Just a touch of it is enough to make everything sound smooth and present. Don't push it hard you don't need that. All types of tapes with different flavors, just can't get enough. My mixes use to hit hard on my ears esp. with lots of harsh eqs and comps. That harshness is gone but the presence is still there,THAT'S THE GAME. I use on my Mix Buss. Actually i mix with it on. Tape type GP9, Cald at +6 and Head 1/4" ahh! much better now. Of course tweak the eq setting, noise shaping, wow and flutter. Transformer if u need, keeps things in place.

Basically a poor man's Studer - and it's great!
I've worked with the Studer and Ampex plug-ins here and actually found them a little too feature packed - when I'm quickly looking for a nice tape effect the Oxide is a perfect place to start. And obviously the DSP hit is so much less than with the Studer/Ampex - great job UAD!

Very happy with the Studer A800 Plug-in!
I've been tracking drums the past couple weeks and had the opportunity to get to know this plug-in a little better. I've been running an Apollo insert on every drum mic on the way into the DAW and this plug-in delivers the analog sound and feel that I've been hoping for. Drums and cymbals already sound full and warm before additional processing, which is the perfect starting point for me. Very useful along with my other UA plug-ins!

I've been working on mastering for 5 years. Last December I've bought my new Apollo 8. I demoed many plugins but the first one I decided to buy is ATR-102. I so like how it works in my mastering chain! It's excellent!

Oxide a great low cost option
Now that I have had some time behind the promotional plug-ins that come standard w the Apollo 8p and Twin Duo hardware, I needed something to add more depth and texture to my mix. I was holding out for sales on the Studier and Ampex tape recorders when, BAM, here is Oxide. Subtle, easy to use plug. It really brings out vocals when patched on a single track and gives the whole mix a round, whole feeling of context. Thanks for the coupons and keep those sales coming!

Not my must have
Having received as part of a promo bundle I may yet have to discover how great it is. Sofar, I didn't notice much.

On evvery track now...
I have been throwing this guy on all of my multitracks since I got it. I worked with tape for MANY years and I was glad to see it go for all the trouble it was to maintain. I work strictly digital now but sometimes long for that voodoo tape adds to the sound. This plugin has done an excellent job of adding a little meat to the track, without sounding cheap and artificial like so many tape sims do. I have been very happy with it.

Amazing for Electronic Drums
Really brings out the character of electronic based drums from outboard gear to samples. Brings great character that is usually lost working with computer samples and sound.

Great sounding plug
I've got some prior tape experience, and I feel like the compression and distortion that this plug offers is similar. Is it identical? I don't know or care. I do know that it adds a subtle, yet noticeable compression and smear (in a good way) that sounds perfect on some recent work I've done.

Pleasure for my ears!!
I had my doubts! I have the Slate VTM and thought why another one? I wanted a warm distortion on a snare drum.. my TS808 didn't sound right.. thought about a saturator and somehow I thought tape saturation/compression might be it.. plugged in VTM... naaaa, not at all what I wanted. There's this new Oxide tape, I thought... Gave it a try and demoed it.. Plugged it in, turned up the input.. tried that thing on a bass guitar.. went straight to UAD and bought the plug in!! That's the tape sound I always wanted!!
Not much DSP is needed. That's really a great job you've done here... Thank you!

Easy GUI, DSP friendly and sounds great!
Had the Studer and loved it but with just a Twin Duo couldn't afford the DSP to use it on every track. Oxide is the answer - for anyone using the more modest Apollo devices this gives you the Studer experience without the painful DSP usage. Incredible job UA!

Warmth
I really really had a doubt about buying this plugin. And even though there are many videoclips in which people explain what it does, most of the time it was so subtle, I didn't hear it.
I took the risk and now I finally understand (or rather hear/feel) what's going on. The sound I have always listened to in the 70's, was all recorded on tape. And that "feel" is now also in my own music.
When switched on over a drumsampler, it somehow makes it all more enjoyable to listen to. When switched off everything sounds somewhat harsh and digital.
So in the end, I'm a happy man. Thanks UAD

A must have in your recording chain
I got it mainly for tracking with my Apollo, the preamp I choose to track It depends of the source but the chains always includes the Studer.
In combination with a 1176 or a LA-2A It gets your dynamics controlled at recording and i do less processing later at the mix.
Made some console presets for bass and guitar with several plug-ins combinations so when a want a precise sound it's really fast to get it and adjust for the track.
Get a good sound at recording spares you time at mixing and this plug-ins in my workflow helps me a lot with it.
I'm doing some tests with it on group busses but not yet comfortable to change my PT template, but the result on bussed drums and guitars it's quite good.
I usually take out the noise.
