What compression was meant to be!
These really sound fantastic. Grey face is a little slow on release for some things but the sliver more than makes up for it. These comps just have a thick sound to them. The legacy version is great but these actually are worth the upgrade. Super easy to dial in-set and forget. The emphasis control makes compressing the "right" part of the signal possible. Love owning these!!

Dept across the Wide Spectrum
These units are very impressive. the depthe across the wide spectrum is something that both needs to be felt and heard.
The Filters are wide, deep and analog smooth - not dense and brittle or as hard-knee as some 'high end' software can be.

Hardware vs Software
I used these hardware beauties, at Islands Basing St studio, London, back in the 70's.
Wonderful equipment.
And to my ears, and tactility, they've been cracked in the software world ( this also includes the 1176 collection)
Never thought I'd actually own a batch of them one day!

It's A Classic For A Reason!
A very nice plug collection! After having upgraded from the 1176 Legacy to this collection, I am pleased with the versatility that I now have. I've used the other brands of the 1176 and they are not nearly as accurate to the hardware device as the UAD versions. Using the hardware unit is nice if the unit is serviced and in good shape, but if you're like me and do not want to invest in something that you have to maintain and have take up space then this plugin collection is perfect for you.

The revisions each have their own character and the while I am a fan of the legacy 1176 plug-ins, these new editions have captured more of the essence of outboard gear than the original hardware. Well worth adding to your collection.

Amazing EQ!!!
I have to say that this is my favorite, go-to EQ (API being my second choice, Cambridge being my third, depending on the song). When mixing my wife's songs, it warms up her vocals, giving them presence and shine. I also like to place this EQ on the Master Buss (after either the Neve or Fairchild compressor) to help sculpt and glue my mix. Way to go UAD!!!

I have not had the privilege of using the actual hardware units but I have used other company's emulations & UA's is by far the best...

Another plugin I didn't think I needed but love.
You'd think I would have learned my lesson with the Fairchild, the 1176, and the Pultec update, but no I waited to get this. I didn't think UA could do better that the Legacy LA2A. Just like the 1176 pack I was kicking myself for not having this for mixes I just finessed. I have used may versions of the LA2A hardware and they all have their place but you don't always have the one you need at the studio you in that day. Until now. A very useful update indeed. Thank you.

I don't have a real Fairchild sitting around to compare, but this version excels on it's own merits. The mix knob is worth the price of admission by itself. I also like that you can instantiate this plug on a track without compressing and just add some nice coloration. Well done guys!

1176 collection
Whoa. They nailed it. I've never used the AE version of the 1176, but UAD has done an amazing job reproducing the Rev E and A units. I actually vastly prefer the Rev E plugin to my UA reissue hardware (sorry, UA!). Great emulation.

Another fantastic update from Universal Audio. This thing rocks! Try stacking four of these in row on your master without any gain to really hear the transformers work :)

nice plugin
1176 is a very clean, and very with elastic compression device,
I never used to the hardware version, but it was enough to make me think it is well worth using.
For vocals, the guitar is very good, can enhance the sound quality of class.
Like it very much.
